Training and Induction.

Each carer’s induction must consist of introduction into each of the above topics (as specified in Section 1) through administrative/paper-based and hands-on training components. When induction training is delivered induction manager must ensure that new staff are familiar with and understand the principles and practical application of each area of their training.

The administrative/paper-based induction section should focus upon accurate documentation (including the correct completion of timesheets, care diaries, and client case recording books which is kept in the client’s home), reporting delays and emergencies, correct dress codes, codes of conduct, Equal Opportunities and the anti-discrimination policy. During this part of the induction new staff will be given the Carer’s Handbook, all areas of which should be discussed and explained. New staff must sign and date for this document. The hands-on induction that forms the substantial part of the initial training process must enable new staff to work-shadow their induction manger or tutor and eventually work under their close supervision. Induction mangers or tutors must note that the hands-on induction should be used to help inductees work to a high standard.
